Menold Bezler advises the City of Kehl on conclusion of major cross-border project

Opening of second construction phase for Strasbourg-Kehl tramline

A public celebration on December 8th and 9th, 2018 marked the completion - on time and within budget - of the second track section of the tramline across the Rhine. The route now connects the city centres of Kehl and Strasbourg with a journey time of just 20 minutes. Since November 23rd, 2018, tramline D has run from Strasbourg to the new stop Kehl Rathaus, extending the newly-built route to a total of 4 km. The new route in Kehl is 1.3 km long and cost EUR 21 million. This marks the conclusion of the cross-border project.

The city of Kehl called for tenders for the work on the second construction phase in several Europe-wide negotiated procedures with calls for competition. Menold Bezler provided comprehensive procurement and construction law advice and handled the entire procurement and procedural management.

Menold Bezler previously advised Strasbourg-based transport company Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois (CTS) on procurement and construction law for the first construction phase, which was inaugurated on 29 April 2017 and ended at Kehl Central Station.
